Quarry Park Adventures is a totally unique adventure park located within and atop a former granite rock quarry in Rocklin, California. The park was built by the City of Rocklin to serve as an amenity to local residents and as an economic driver, bringing visitors – and their dollars – to the community. As one of the larger parks in the aerial adventure industry, Quarry Park Adventures is open year-round and, under AAC’s management, has grown to serve 50,000+ visitors each year

A Rocky Start Turned to Gold: Gaining public trust, community buy-in, and national media attention following a business launch that didn’t go exactly as planned.

When Applied Adventure began operating Quarry Park Adventures in the spring of 2019, it was under unique circumstances. The City of Rocklin and its former park operator had parted ways, leaving the City’s large investment in need of an experienced team that could earn the public’s trust. The park, which hosts multiple attractions including ziplines, an aerial adventure park, a children’s adventure area and more, was part of a $13M investment of City funds. As such, local residents have a unique stake in the project, and ensuring the investment is well-managed was (and remains) a top priority for our client.

Efficient Start Up

It was important for the park to have as little “downtime” as possible, as the public had been counting on 2019 as Quarry Park Adventures’ first full year of operation. In less than one month’s time, our team set up all new business accounts and best practices, hired and trained new employees (a crew of approximately 50 people), created and launched brand new, fresh marketing efforts, and reopened Quarry Park Adventures to the public. Our highly experienced team made this all not only possible, but also successful.

(Re)gaining Public Trust

Quarry Park Adventures was a much-publicized and highly anticipated addition to Rocklin and the wider Sacramento area. Many in the immediate community had prepaid the prior operator for tickets and/or annual passes. While AAC had not received these funds from customers, we elected to honor all of the previously purchased tickets, confident that gaining the public’s trust and support was worth the financial investment. And we were right! Through this effort, special events for “previous passholders,” and much work (particularly in the early years) building a rapport of trust, Quarry Park Adventures has become a much-loved, well-respected destination in Rocklin–a five-star experience that local residents are now proud to support!

Reputation Repaired

Now years into managing Quarry Park Adventures, the park has become the amenity for local residents it was intended to be and a significant source of economic impact within the community. And best of all, the park’s reputation has been entirely repaired. In 2023, Quarry Park Adventures was named one of USA Today’s “10 Best” Aerial Adventure Parks in the nation. Perks for Rocklin residents, programming for school, non-profit and corporate groups, and spring, summer and winter camp programs are thriving. In short, the future of Quarry Park Adventures is golden.
